TN follow-up - 850 KOA in Denver laughs at new Civil War
Mon Jul 28, 2008 at 10:23:55 AM PDT
Yesterday, early Sunday evening (7:00 pm - ish MDT) I turned on KOA radio in Denver to see if a Rockies game was on. Instead there was a talk-radio host doing a show. The host took a caller, and the caller said that if Obama was elected, there would be a Civil War, and the host encouraged and laughed at the notion. The caller was not laughing. The two talked about a Civil War between Real Americans v. Liberals. When the caller hung up, the host continued with this fantasy, and asked whether, in a Civil War between Real Americans and The Liberal Left, you'd rather be fighting on the side of "Gunny Bob" (who is a right-wing weekday host for KOA and former marine) or Janeanne Garafolo. I was unaware of the Unitarian Church shooting until I read about it later last night.
The non-Democrat Democrats strike again. OVP Funded
Fri Jul 13, 2007 at 04:12:55 PM PDT
Not to be outdone by non-Democrat Sen. Salazar's cynical and dividing Iraq amendment, Sen. Ben Nelson (nonD-D - NE) decided to vote for an amendment to the appropriation bill that restored funding to the Office of the Vice President. http://govexec.com/...
The amendment was offered by Sen. Brownback. So Nelson chose to support Cheney and Brownback instead of the caucus.
Now that the Vice President's lawlessness has been enabled by Sen. Nelson, it's time to revisit the question of whether a non-Dem Dem is better than a Republican.
My answer is "yes", but I can only urp up this answer in a vomit-scented whisper.
UPDATE: I guess I'm late to this issue. http://www.dailykos.com/...
I'm keeping the diary up due to a discussion on a new measurement called the "Lieberman Unit" or LU. I'd rate Salazar as possessing 60% of all LU's
It's not that they are Catholic...

...it's that they are Republican partisan jerks.
Talk Left has a post up announcing today's decision by the Supreme Court overturning the penalty in three Texas murder cases.
http://www.talkleft.com/...
The votes to toss out the death penalty in these three cases were Souter, Ginsburg, Breyer, Stevens and the Catholic Kennedy.
Notice how the other Catholic justices: Roberts, Alito, Thomas and Scalia voted to keep the death penalty. How Catholic is that?

New from Reuters:

[I can't figure out how to block quote so I'll just use quotes]
"The candidate replacing Florida's disgraced former Rep. Mark Foley (news, bio, voting record) on the ballot in next month's election has been barred from posting signs at polling places clarifying that votes for Foley will actually go to him, authorities said on Wednesday."
Potential October Surprise -- Death of Pres. Ford
Fri Oct 13, 2006 at 11:52:07 AM PDT
It was reported in the news yesterday that former President Gerald Ford was hospitalized again.
http://www.cnn.com/...
President Ford is 93 years old. Within the last two years, he has suffered two mild strokes, had pneumonia, had a pacemaker inserted, and has had two stents put in.
I'm not a doctor, but this seems like an awful lot for a 93 year old person to go through.
With President Ford in the hospital now, how would the country respond if President Ford died?
Foley blackmail?
Sun Oct 01, 2006 at 09:17:06 AM PDT
In the midst of my Sunday morning blog reading, a story posted on Talking Points Memo (
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/...) aroused my curiousity. The story by DK talks about what the Republican leadership knew about Foley, and specifically discusses that Delay knew each GOP representatives likes and dislikes intimately.
I then wondered if Foley was a swing vote on any bills passed by Congress this year, and a quick Google search later...
Down to 14 suspects: 6 Dems and 8 GOPers (Update: 7 left)
Tue Aug 29, 2006 at 12:26:18 PM PDT
As you are probably aware, blogs from both sides of the political spectrum are trying to flush out who placed an anonymous hold on S 2590, a bill that would require public disclosure of all recipients of federal funding.
According to TPMMuckraker, 86 senators have now denied being the culprit.
http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/...
The suspects are Reid, Baucus, Byrd, Carper, Sarbanes and Rockefeller for the Democrats, and Stevens, Talent Murkoswski, Hatch, Gregg, Crapo, Chambless and Bond on the Republican side.
